Pool 4 Report 10/14/2021
Water temp : 66 degrees
Level: 2.29'
Finally, I was able to get out and fish a bit this past weekend. I started by pulling crankbaits on lead at the head of the lake. We caught some fish including a few for the pan but I would not have called the bite hot. I can say it was definitely a better bite early and by mid morning it had all but shut off for us.
Later Saturday afternoon I went back out and pulled Denver rigs in 3 or 4 locations for a total of 2 hours, not a bite! Well, if your like me that embarrasses you and makes you put your head down and figure it out.
I will say while I was in the vicinity of the dam Saturday eve I saw a fair number of fish caught by boats pitching or vertical jigging. I was not set up to make that change.
Sunday I left Everts about noon and headed out with Katie Corgiat to just go fishing and our goal was to catch 1 fish. After Saturday afternoon I was very optimistic that we would succeed. Much to our suprise, ole lady river relaxed her grip and allowed her precious bounty to be found. Katie and I spent the day casting crankbaits to rock points / current seams from Lake Pepin all the way to the dam. The fish, every species, were on fire. I would venture to say we landed 100 fish or more and the quality was unbelievable.
So what I'm trying to say is: The fish are biting, sometimes we put ourselves in position to catch them and sometimes we strike out. If I were you, I would make plans to get here within the next couple of weeks. This bite is getting ready to explode.
Just a reminder that Everts Resort now has live bait and tackle available 24 hours. Please bring cash as it is an honor pay system.
